Buy the Right Whiteboard!

Let’s face it: most whiteboards look incredibly similar, and when you’re looking to buy one online, being confronted by a vast number of seemingly identical products can be a little overwhelming. Which should you pick? How can you tell? To make sure you get the product that suits you, we’ve put together a quick guide to help you understand what to look for when buying your board.

If your classroom, office or business needs a boost, the perfect whiteboard can be a great way to go about it. Reluctance to invest in quality display boards can really hold you back when you should really be looking for ways to optimise your approach to your classes, services and goals.

What Do You Need?

Surfaces

Non-Magnetic Whiteboards

Any classroom or business can benefit from a non-magnetic whiteboard. These products have a wide range of benefits, and are celebrated for being both fun and practical. You’re able to embrace an eco-friendly approach to brainstorming ideas while saving money on paper and on more expensive whiteboard models.

The workplace is full of opportunities to communicate, but some communication just works better if it’s highlighted non-verbally. Red17 has a whole host of products to suit your needs, whether you’re planning to use your new whiteboard to give a talk, write notes or encourage collaborative learning. We’re sure you’ll find just what you’re looking for right here, as our boards are available in a wide variety of models to fit all budgets and uses.

Magnetic Steel

For a more robust design, you may decide to opt for a magnetic steel whiteboard. They have the benefit of working with magnets for pinning notices onto the board, and all of our magnetic whiteboards are economically priced yet well built and made to last, easy to install with an aesthetically pleasing appearance.

Vitreous Enamel

If you’re looking for a premium surface, a vitreous enamel whiteboard is a great way to go. This board will accept the use of magnets and comes with a 25 year surface guarantee.

Office Meeting Guy at Whiteboard

You hear so many different invitations, memos and announcements over the course of a day at work, it can be difficult to remember it all. Make the most of your classroom or office space by converting your walls into functional surfaces, using a great new whiteboard. It’s a good idea to think about how much information you’ll want to display on the board before you choose the size or model of your new display utility.

Types

Wall Boards

Standard wall-mounted whiteboards are often the first thing you’ll think of when you consider buying a whiteboard. Of all the different types of whiteboard available, these are the most popular.

Freestanding Whiteboards

If you’re going to need to move the board around the room often, freestanding whiteboards are ideal. They’re super convenient owing to their ease of mobility and adjustability. Popular freestanding or mobile whiteboards include the whiteboard easel.

Modular Whiteboards

If you need a whiteboard to cover a large area, modular whiteboards are a great solution. Frameless with concealed fixings, these boards can be mounted side by side to create a whiteboard surface exactly as large as you need it.

Handheld Whiteboards

Whiteboards are here to transform the way you work, whether you’re coming up with IT solutions or scheduling client and internal meetings. Ideal for interactive learning in the classroom or explaining things on-the-go, handheld whiteboards are lightweight and highly functional. These products are a great tool for encouraging engagement and visualising information wherever you are, and are sometimes referred to as “show me boards” or “desktop whiteboards”.

Teachers and office training providers alike are able to adapt their teaching to appeal to all students by using these whiteboards in a variety of ways. There are many different situations in which a good whiteboard can come in handy.

Fixings

Corner Fixings

Of all the different whiteboard fixing types, corner fixings are the most secure and common. The board is fitted very securely to the wall at each of its corners.

If you use it properly, any type of whiteboard can be an invaluable tool in your office or classroom.

Frames

Aluminium

The most popular type of whiteboard is the aluminium framed board. These boards look great and offer great quality and a long life. If you’re looking for something cheaper, plastic aluminium effect frames are also available.

Wood & Wood Effect

Although not as popular as aluminium framed boards, wood framed whiteboards are still a great choice. This frame offers a more stylish look for an otherwise basic design. As with aluminium, wood effect frames are also available to give the same look at a lower cost.

Frameless

For a minimalist, fashionable look, frameless whiteboards are a great choice. Places where style is important, such as modern offices, really like this look. A frameless board like the Printed Modular Whiteboard from Red17 is perfect for creating whiteboard and projector walls, as they can be placed side-by-side to cover as large an area as you require.

Whatever model and material you’re looking for, you’re bound to find it at Red17.

Best for Cleanliness

The average whiteboard will often start to look a little grubby after a few months’ use. Even after a thorough wipe down, there can still be a slightly grey tinge to the surface, causing them to look untidy. It can feel like the board is impossible to clean, and stains and permanent marker can contribute to marking the surface and making it look way older than it is. But there is another way: glass whiteboards!

Glass whiteboards look pristine for much longer than standard whiteboard surfaces, as their surface is made from an ultra-smooth toughened glass and they can come in a range of bright colours that don’t show stains quite so readily.
