Almost every classroom utilises a wall-mounted whiteboard, and many more benefit from wall-mounted noticeboards. In fact, many schools will line their corridors with notice boards for a variety of reasons, including creating a fun and engaging learning environment. But why should schools invest in installing an outdoor notice board?

Advertise after school clubs

Every school runs after school clubs and activities. Although information about them can normally be distributed through newsletters, having a single place that’s external to the school building enables parents to have a good point of reference should they find the newsletter goes astray.

Parents and families are always interested in what’s going on in the school their child attends. Their vested interest in their child’s education often means that schools are under a lot of scrutiny. General updates about maintenance work, upcoming school performances and local awards can restore parents’ faith in the school’s ability to teach their child.

Communicate important notices

For the more important notices, such as when teacher inset days will be taking place, an outdoor notice board is a great way to share this information. By displaying this type of information in one place all year round, schools may be able to cut back a little on resource spending. Instead of phoning the school to find out specific information, parents can check the outdoor notice board when they next visit the school.

Involve the community

Many schools are invested in their local community. Including an outdoor notice board as a display for what’s happening locally is just one way a school can connect with the community and become a part of it.

Fundraisers and fairs are excellent opportunities that can utilise an outdoor notice board. Certificates of how much money was raised, and photos of the local events are a great way to enter in to the community spirit and this also means that these events don’t go forgotten but can at least be appreciated by those in the vicinity.

Especially for those who don’t have children, or whose children have grown up, many of those nearby won’t necessarily be particularly involved in the school and so an outdoor noticeboard is a great way of reaching out to these people and including them.
